Last week, scholarly stars and academic calendars aligned ๐ซ and each of our doctoral students celebrated a major achievement.
First, Rehab successfully defended her dissertation. She studied how individual and community-level factors affect Arabic immigrant women’s food preparation and intake. Here’s a sneak peek: it’s not all about nutrition knowledge! Congratulations, Rehab!
Masoomeh presented her research project at the 2022 annual meeting of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE). Her presentation was on Diet Quality and Food Intake of Children in WIC and SNAP. This was a milestone in this study’s journey, with important lessons learned at each step along the way. Great work, Masoomeh!
Finally, Falah had a major manuscript accepted for publication in the International Journal for Equity in Health. It is the culmination of years of relationship building, studious learning, and collaborative planning. As a result, this work laid a strong foundation for our ongoing community health education and engagement project. Way to go, Falah!
Each of these major achievements is the result of months and years of dedication, team work, and “sticktuitiveness” – while navigating the struggles of a global pandemic, no less. We spend so much of our time in academia working hard “behind the scenes.” It sure feels good when that hard work pays off. More details on all of these to come as they get published.
Bravo, team! ๐
